Senior Accountant – Government Contracts | Up to $75K+ | Tarrant County, TX (Onsite)

CornerStone has partnered with a local aircraft fuel systems company in their search for a senior accountant with expertise in complex Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. This is a direct hire opportunity with a company known for its innovative engineering solutions, long-standing federal partnerships, and collaborative internal culture.

We’re seeking a candidate who is confident and experienced in government contract accounting, especially within aerospace or defense sectors. You’ll play a pivotal role in managing the financials tied to high-value government projects—including cost proposals, forecasts, cost projections, and navigating contract clause exceptions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle complex government contracts (primarily DoD) with strict compliance and accuracy

• Prepare detailed cost proposals, cost projections, and financial forecasts

• Interpret and advise on FAR/DFARS compliance, and maintain templates for clause exceptions

• Work with internal teams to support new bids and contract negotiations

• Maintain strong records and audit support for government reporting

• Perform variance analysis and reporting using advanced Excel functions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting

• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with DoD/government contracts

• Strong knowledge of government accounting principles and cost structure

• Advanced Excel skills – pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, cost modeling

• Prior experience working with templates for proposal clauses and contract compliance

• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Work Schedule:

• Standard: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Summer Hours (Memorial Day – Labor Day):

  • Monday – Thursday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

  • Fridays: Half Day!
