We're not some giant conglomerate; things are personable, and everyone knows each other.The OpportunityYou'll own the day-to-day and middle-management accounting that keeps this company's finances running. Our company is positioned for growth, and this role comes with an opportunity for advancement within 1 to 3 years; you'll increasingly be involved in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. You'll report to the Director of Finance and serve as a key part of a small financial team.What You'll DoAbout 70% of this job is highly detailed accounting routines, some of which are tedious data processing. The remaining 30% is dealing with time-sensitive or priority-driven responsibilities that come up without warning. You'll need to be flexible enough to shift gears when something urgent hits and then get back to your routine work.Core ResponsibilitiesExecute and reconcile working papers for month-end closeReconcile balance sheet accounts using NetSuite and advanced ExcelManage payroll, accruals, and biweekly processing; renew and reconcile tax filings; prepare journal entriesAnalyze budgets vs. actualsReport and manage cash accurately and in a timely mannerReport sales tax and maintain compliance across all statesAnalyze time and efficiency (FTE reporting)Manage 401(k) plans, Section 125 plans, ERISA, and unemployment reportingExamples of Unplanned Urgent SituationsTroubleshoot an issue where sales tax may be miscalculatedReconcile a customer's payment order issueProcess emergency paperwork for a worker's comp claimFacilitate required steps for an employee termination, transfer hire, or leave of absenceA candid note: This role requires constant reprioritization. Routine work will be interrupted by urgent requests, and the ability to shift gears without losing accuracy is essential. The job also demands comfort with large and complex spreadsheets on a daily basis.What You'll BringMust-HavesBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fieldSolid knowledge of GAAP, sales tax, ERISA, and applicable compliance requirementsAdvanced Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros)Detail orientation, critical thinking, and analytical reasoningComfort with repetitive tasks and resourcefulness in problem-solvingReliable time management and the ability to reprioritize on the flyNice-to-HavesCPA (strongly preferred).
