Senior Plant Accountant – Greenville Area
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly driven accounting professional to serve as a key partner to leadership, ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and actionable business insights within a growing manufacturing environment.
This role will play a critical part in building and optimizing accounting processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and strengthening internal controls. Reporting to the U.S. Corporate Controller, this individual will lead one direct report and act as a trusted advisor to cross-functional leaders, translating financial data into meaningful business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Integrity & Controls
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies
- Maintain and continuously enhance internal controls to support audit readiness and safeguard company assets
- Lead monthly close activities, including accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement analysis
- Own balance sheet integrity through detailed reconciliations and proactive issue resolution
- Partner with internal and external auditors to ensure smooth and efficient audit processes
Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
- Drive the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of accounting processes within a scaling manufacturing operation
- Play a key role in the design, testing, and implementation of ERP systems, ensuring alignment with operational and reporting needs
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and enhance reporting efficiency
- Support implementation and optimization of fixed asset systems, ensuring proper tracking, classification, and reporting
Business Partnership & Decision Support
- Act as a financial business partner to leadership, product management, and cross-functional teams
- Translate financial data into insights that support timely, informed business decisions
- Partner with operations and product teams to validate and analyze product costing and inventory valuation
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, with a focus on manufacturing costs and inventory drivers
- Provide clear, concise financial reporting and analysis to leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance drivers
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop one direct report, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, influencing without authority when needed
- Support a responsive, solutions-oriented finance function aligned with business needs, including international coordination as required
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to accuracy, accountability, and financial transparency
- Proven ability to analyze complex issues and drive practical solutions
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional leaders in a dynamic environment
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and system implementations preferred. Epicor would be plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, execute, and improve processes independently
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP required
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Cost accounting experience strongly preferred
