West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a 501-c-3 charitable organization located in Forest Grove, Oregon. We develop land, build and repair homes for low-income, elderly, disabled and veterans, and operate the Habitat ReStore (thrift shop and recycling center). We view our work as successful when it transforms lives and promotes positive and lasting change in the community.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Accounting Manager supports the Executive Director by providing essential financial management to the organization. Responsibilities run the full gamut from payroll and accounts payable to preparation of the monthly/yearly closings and monthly report packets.

Location: We are located at the West Tuality Habitat for Humanity offices, a 2ndstory walkup located at 3731 Pacific Avenue, in Forest Grove, Oregon. This position does not include any remote or hybrid work options.

Specific Responsibilities:

Weekly: Payroll: audit timesheets, prepare payroll in QuickBooks, prepare and file quarterly and yearly filings. Accounts Payable, including job costs. Grant and Restricted Fund Tracking using Classes in QuickBooks.

Month-end and Year-end Closings and related filings. Preparation for the annual audit. Preparation of Budget to Actual and other month-end reports as needed.

Mortgages: Annual reconciliation of reserve escrow accounts. Support new applicants by collecting required documents and uploading to lenders loan portals, monthly review of applicants finances to ensure continued eligibility and compliance with program requirements.

Oversight and financial management of cash and reporting for special events, restricted funds, and etc. as needed.

Maintenance of control matrix and related documentation as needed for GAAP compliance.

Pay/Benefits:

  • This position can be either full or part time, it is envisioned as full time but could accommodate either. The minimum commitment is about 8-10 hours/week.
  • The position will allow for some degree of flexible scheduling, subject to certain hard deadlines such as payroll processing;
  • The anticipated work week is Monday Friday, 9am 5pm. Occasional evening or weekend work may occur;
  • Some light travel may be required from time to time;
  • Wages/salary range is $52,000 - $93,600 per year (or hourly equivalent) depending on experience and availability;
  • Benefits for a full time position include Paid Sick, Vacation, and company-paid health coverage for the employee.
  • All costs for any required training will be company paid.

Requirements:

  • Five or more years of related experience; college degree in accounting is strongly preferred;
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Premier Desktop;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, g-mail, google suite, and other office applications as needed;
  • Expertise with restricted fund accounting, GAAP, and other aspects of non-profit accounting;
  • Ability to complete federal and state certifications for mortgage origination;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to establish and maintain congeniality with other staff, volunteers, clients and donors;
  • Effective written and verbal communication;
  • Ability to work well with a culturally diverse group of stakeholders;
  • Ability to prioritize, work efficiently and highly effectively;
  • A successful background check will be required.
  • Fluid bilingual in English and Spanish, written and verbal communications, is strongly preferred.
