Under general direction of the Local Assistance Claims Unit Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) independently performs the more difficult accounting duties related to processing payments and reconciliation.

Must have extensive knowledge of the states uniform accounting system Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal), state and related federal laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Must have a strong fiscal education and background; exercise good writing skills; follow oral and written directions be responsive to the needs of the public and employees of CalOES and other agencies; analyze situations and take effective action using initiative, resourcefulness, and good judgment.
Must work with limited supervision.

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
