JOB DESCRIPTION:

Savan Group is looking for a strong Artificial Intelligence (AI) Subject Matter Expert (SME) will help to support AI research and project development for a bureau-level CIO in the Department of Commerce. The ideal candidate will possess technical experience with AI as well as data management experience. The candidate will demonstrate excellent client-handling skills with the ability to quickly develop relationships at all levels of the client organization.

Role Responsibilities
  • ridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute project plans and budgets, adhering to strict Federal guidelines and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Develop use cases and evaluation criteria for the identification of pilot GenAI projects.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks for post-implementation reviews to support go/no-go decision-making.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies, keeping stakeholders informed and ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, and other technical experts to translate project requirements into technically feasible solutions.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by researching and understanding the latest AI advancements and their potential applications for Federal agencies.
  • Provide project management support to select IT projects, including support in the areas of resource, cost, risk, issue, change, and schedule management.
  • Perform policy analysis, drafting new policies and compliance guidance.
  • Prepare management and technical presentations.
Requirements and Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a relevant major.
  • 10+ years of experience and 4+ years of related IT and PMO experience.
  • 6+ years of experience working for the Government as a consultant or similar environment.
  • Expert knowledge of AI principles and their potential applications in the public sector.
  • Experience providing strategic guidance to senior-level federal officials and performing subsequent stakeholder management.
  • Ability to complete individual tasks effectively, work in a team environment, and be proactive with little guidance.
  • Strong understanding of the Agile project management methodology.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare concise and informative reports and presentations.
  • US citizenship and ability to get or hold a public trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP in progress or in hand
  • Experience with project management tools such as Google Sites, Microsoft Project, Slack, JIRA, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Planner, etc.
  • Experience with AI tools and knowledge of data quality for AI Tool training.
