Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for rate development and filings in the Individual and Small Group ACA markets
  • Contribute to achievement of profitability and membership goals by acting as a strategic partner with business partners
  • Coordinate the pricing and filing work required for multiple states
  • Set and manage own priorities and those of other team members as needed to meet pre-established deadlines
  • Cultivate relationships with local regulators and negotiate terms of rate filings and approvals; communicate both in response to objections and proactively as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to various audiences to establish strong relationships and to effectively convey observations and recommendations
  • Participate in the broader ACA team and foster a team environment of trust and collaboration.
  • Establish understanding of competitive landscape and competitor prices compared to Aetna rates so that recommended rate levels can be developed
  • Forecast results and monitor financial performance
  • Develop or recommend initiatives to drive down cost structure so price points can be competitive and achieve required financial goals
  • Devise responsible pricing strategies to help grow membership.
  • Recommend decisions logically based on data and business acumen that weighs the pros and cons and considers calculated risks
  • Navigate several data points, possibly contradictory, and rationalize recommended course of action, recognizing risks and opportunities. Work with different areas to understand those data points.
  • Work with multiple business partners (Segment Management, Network, Contracting, Product, Finance, Compliance, Market Actuaries, External Consultants) to achieve pricing and product objectives
  • Influence/empower resources within and outside of direct control to complete projects
  • Advocate for ACA segments unique needs while also balancing the need to streamline processes for efficiency

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years actuarial experience
  • 2+ actuarial exams passed
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to work with large and detailed data sets
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid technical/analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success in providing strong technical guidance and leadership direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ACA markets

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$43,700.00 - $107,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
