Practice Overview Ankura’s Risk Advisory group, specifically the Forensic Data & Analytics (FDA) team, focuses on high‑profile investigations, regulatory compliance, and financial crimes. The team is expanding into key markets including New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
Role Overview The Senior Associate is a hands‑on technical role designed for a professional who thrives in an agile, expert‑led environment. The role involves unearthing insights from massive, diverse datasets that exceed standard Excel capabilities. It is a hybrid position within one of our offices, ideally Chicago, Washington, D.C., or New York.
Responsibilities Perform hands‑on data profiling, establish data flows, and identify patterns or anomalies within general ledgers and financial systems.
Use analytics tools and platforms (SQL, Python, Databricks, etc.) to handle complex datasets and develop quantifiable findings for investigations and regulatory matters.
Support forensic accounting teams and outside counsel by preparing work product and technical findings.
Articulate technical findings clearly for both technical peers and non‑technical client audiences.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to help develop new capabilities and support group growth.
Requirements 2–3 years of relevant experience, ideally within a major consulting firm or specialized advisory environment.
2–3+ years of experience using SQL and Python, with additional experience in Tableau, Power BI, R, or cloud‑based analytics platforms (Databricks, BigQuery, etc.).
Deep technical proficiency in SQL and Python is required.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related technical field.
Proactive mentality with ability to handle ambiguity and high‑stakes, time‑sensitive situations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
Compensation and Benefits For positions in California, Colorado, or New York, Ankura is required to disclose compensation range. The estimated range for this role is $85,000 to $100,000. This estimate is not a promise of a particular wage and does not include additional benefits outside of salary.
