Senior ACS (Advanced Control Systems) / SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Integrator – Municipal Water & Wastewater Systems

Northern Illinois | Northern Indiana | Southern Wisconsin

Full-Time | Field + Office


Are you a PLC/SCADA expert who enjoys solving real-world infrastructure challenges? Our client is seeking a Senior ACS / SCADA Integrator to lead high-impact automation projects supporting municipal water and wastewater utilities across the Midwest. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and customer engagement while mentoring a team of integrators and technicians.


If you enjoy designing automation systems, leading technical teams, and delivering critical infrastructure solutions, this role offers the opportunity to work on projects that keep essential public systems running.


What You’ll Do


Lead and Deliver Automation Projects

  • Serve as the technical authority for PLC and SCADA projects
  • Define architecture, scope, and technical execution strategies
  • Establish standards for programming, documentation, and system design
  • Lead testing, commissioning, and final system delivery


Manage and Develop a Technical Team

  • Mentor and coordinate SCADA technicians and integrators
  • Assign work, manage project priorities, and guide technical development
  • Promote safety, accountability, and continuous improvement


Support Municipal Customers

  • Translate operational needs into system designs and control strategies
  • Provide technical guidance to municipal stakeholders
  • Support estimating, scheduling, and project planning
  • Resolve complex automation and instrumentation issues


Hands-On Technical Work

  • Program and troubleshoot PLC systems for water and wastewater facilities
  • Develop and upgrade Windows-based SCADA systems
  • Configure HMI/OIT interfaces for operator control
  • Integrate process instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, and analyzers
  • Support controls for pumps, valves, and plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot networked industrial communication systems
  • Develop electrical schematics, system diagrams, and engineering specifications
  • Estimate project labor and assist with technical proposals


What You Bring

  • Degree in Industrial Electronics, Automation/Controls, or related field
  • 7+ years of PLC/SCADA integration experience
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring technical staff
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and control systems
  • Experience with instrumentation, panel troubleshooting, and process automation
  • Strong communication skills with municipal or industrial customers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office


Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to travel within Northern Illinois, Northern Indiana, and Southern Wisconsin
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
