We are hiring a Senior Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer to take point on managing full-cycle bookkeeping and preparing personal and business tax returns for a portfolio of creator clients. This is a freelance role with the potential to grow into a leadership or full-time position. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, managing multiple client relationships, and offering strategic guidance in addition to day-to-day execution.
This is a remote position. Candidates in Southern California may be considered for a hybrid role.
In this role you will:
- Own the bookkeeping and financial operations for a portfolio of high-earning content creators
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping: transaction categorization, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for LLCs, S-Corps, and individuals
- Oversee quarterly tax estimates and ensure compliance with IRS regulations and relevant deductions
- Identify and implement improvements in client accounting systems and chart of accounts
- Communicate directly with clients to explain financial reports, answer tax questions, and support decision-making
- Support internal process development, staff onboarding, and quality control reviews as the team grows
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation
- Experience working with small businesses, creators, or high-income solopreneurs
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and federal/state tax requirements
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Gusto, and modern tax software
- Comfort working independently with multiple client accounts
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- CPA, EA, or other relevant credential is preferred but not required
