Job Description

The Senior Buyer leads sourcing and procurement activities for customer-specific programs, new product development efforts, and ongoing production needs. The role focuses on cost optimization, supply continuity, and supplier performance, while working closely with cross-functional partners throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing activities, including supplier identification, qualification, and development
  • Support new product development activities by coordinating supplier selection, material readiness, and transition from prototype to production
  • Source and manage direct materials such as electronics, machined components, and cable assemblies
  • Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, and Operations to align sourcing strategies with design, manufacturability, and delivery requirements
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to achieve total cost of ownership targets
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance related to cost, quality, and delivery
  • Identify supply risks and implement mitigation actions to protect project schedules
  • Execute operational purchasing activities and maintain accurate data within ERP systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across cost, delivery, and supplier capability

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • APICS CSCP preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain

Skills

  • Experience with direct material sourcing
  • ERP experience required (SAP preferred)
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools

Personal Attributes

  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and customer-focused
  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical teams
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments

Regulatory & Work Requirements

  • Role involves access to ITAR-controlled information; U.S. person status required
