Overview
As a Senior Cloud Engineer – Distributed Database & Middleware , you will design and optimize the architecture of distributed database and middleware systems to ensure scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance. You will drive data governance strategies, optimize performance across multiple layers, and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and mentor engineers in database management, system stability, and performance tuning.
Responsibilities
Design the overall architecture of distributed database and middleware systems to ensure high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Integrate open‑source components to build solutions that meet enterprise‑grade standards.
Conduct in‑depth research and optimization of database underlying data governance, including storage formats, data structures, indexing methods, sharding, compaction, compression, validation and repair, as well as backup and recovery.
Formulate efficient data governance strategies to ensure high‑performance and secure data processing in a distributed environment.
Optimize multi‑layer resources, including operating system I/O and network performance, to ensure system stability and high performance in complex environments.
Monitor system performance metrics to promptly identify and resolve issues.
Design and implement routine operations, data backup and recovery, and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Establish operational standards for distributed applications and continuously optimize system stability and recoverability.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (development, operations, security, etc.) to ensure project success.
Mentor team members in distributed systems, database governance, and performance tuning practices to elevate overall technical expertise within the team.
Requirements
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Over 5 years of experience in cloud computing, distributed systems, database systems, or related fields.
Proven experience in architecture design and implementation within large‑scale internet or enterprise systems.
Deep understanding of CAP theory, BASE principles, ACID transactions, and consensus/consistency algorithms.
Mastery of common distributed architecture designs and the ability to propose effective solutions for various business scenarios.
Proficient in data storage formats, data structures, indexing methods, sharding, compaction, compression, validation and repair, and strategies for data backup and recovery.
Expertise in transaction concurrency control, performance tuning (including OS I/O optimization, network optimization, etc.), and designing locking mechanisms and addressing read/write amplification issues in high‑concurrency environments.
Familiarity with distributed application scenarios and designing efficient solutions for daily operations and disaster recovery.
Proficient in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go), with strong coding skills and a solid understanding of system design principles.
Preferred Additional Skills
Experience designing and implementing architectures on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience with databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, and others.

Salary range: $150,000-$180,000
