Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, project specifications, and proposals to create accurate cost estimates for time, materials, labor, and equipment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring project budgets are adhered to, risks are mitigated, and bids are prepared with precision. The Senior Cost Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring all costs are within limits and properly accounted for.
  • Identify potential risks related to cost overruns and suggest proactive mitigation strategies to minimize financial impact.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals for new projects, providing accurate and comprehensive cost breakdowns.
  • Maintain and update a database of cost information for labor, materials, and equipment to assist in future estimates.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to gather relevant data and input on materials and labor costs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market pricing, and other factors that could affect project costs.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports to management and clients for approval and decision-making purposes.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction cost estimating
  • Proficient in cost estimation software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  • In-depth understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret project specifications, drawings, and other relevant data to develop accurate cost projections.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate challenges and create cost-effective solutions.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator - CPE) are a plus but not required.
