Job Description:
We are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to help us build robust data pipelines that unify data from various tools into a centralized, user-friendly database. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize data pipelines that provide timely and accurate data access across the organization. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify data access needs, create aggregated tables for improved usability, and ensure seamless integration with business intelligence tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to unify data from various company tools into a centralized PostgreSQL database.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data access needs and create aggregate tables to improve data usability and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure seamless integration with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or a combination of these, enabling easy access to actionable insights.
  • Optimize database schemas and queries for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Implement robust data validation, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Incorporate data security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging, into pipeline development.
  • Work with AWS services such as S3, Aurora, DynamoDB, Timestream, Lambda, or Glue to support pipeline development and data management.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in data engineering and business intelligence to propose innovative solutions.
  • Document data pipelines, database schemas, and related processes to facilitate transparency and scalability.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
  • Proven experience building production-grade data pipelines
  • Strong expertise in designing and managing databases (especially PostgreSQL databases), including performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python for ETL processes.
  • Exposure to or experience with AWS Timestream and AWS DynamoDB storage technologies
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, Aurora, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, and RDS.
  • Exposure to one or more BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Metabase) and an ability to adapt to a potential combination of tools.
  • Solid grasp of data security best practices and their application in data pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, including star schema, data lakes, and data marts.
  • Previous exposure to SOC 2 requirements and general compliance standards is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellect architecting skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years professional experience In database schema designing, developing database scripts, and general data pipeline architecting
  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) concepts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker.
