Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company , is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support KITS and our government customer in Carson, CA. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. The customer may need support as needed at other locations Columbus, OH, Bedford, MA, Fort Lee, VA, and Smyrna, GA. The customer’s systems track hundreds of thousands of contracts and billions in taxpayer dollars and the DBA role is critical to ensuring that mission-essential data is available 24/7 for auditors, analysts, and leadership. As the Senior DBA, this role typically focuses on high‑availability environments using Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL within a hybrid cloud (DoD Cloud Infrastructure) framework. Primary Responsibilities Experience in MS SQL in an enterprise environment supporting multiple databases, Oracle Database, and Oracle Grid Controllers Database with primary and stand‑by sites, Informatica, and the customer’s Data Center Servers. Database Design & Management Install, configure, and maintain production, development, and test database instances. This includes managing complex schemas that support contract management and financial tracking applications. Performance Tuning Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks. Use advanced diagnostic tools to optimize SQL queries, indexing, and memory allocation to ensure low‑latency response times for end‑users. Data Security & Hardening Apply DISA STIGs to the database layer. Implement encryption at rest and in transit, manage Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and ensure strict adherence to the Principle of Least Privilege. Backup & Disaster Recovery Develop and test rigorous backup and recovery strategies (e.g., Oracle RMAN, SQL Server Always‑On Availability Groups) to meet the agency’s Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). Support the migration of on‑premises databases to Azure Government Cloud (e.g., Azure SQL Managed Instance). Required Qualifications Clearance Requirement Most roles require at least a Secret clearance, with some requiring Top Secret (TS/SCI) depending on the sensitivity of the systems. Certifications (DoD 8570) Must meet IAT Level II or III. Typically requires Security+ CE plus a professional database certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate). Experience 8–12 years of experience in enterprise database administration, with significant experience in a federal or DoD environment.
