Our valued crown corporation client is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to install, configure and maintain all supported Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server (DBMS) software for a High Availability (HA) environment!Initial 1-year contract, with a strong chance of extension. Hybrid schedule of 12 days/month on-site in Ottawa, ON. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. On-Call and Overtime will be required as part of a regular rotational schedule. Selected candidate must have resided in Canada for the last 5+ years to be eligible to apply for security clearance. As the successful candidate you will install, configure and maintain all supported database software (Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server) on prem and in Azure cloud-based High Availability environmentsResponsibilities:Install, configure and maintain all supported Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server (DBMS) software for High Availability (HA) environmentsCarry out database performance tuning and analysis.Implement and review backup and recovery strategy to ensure that business service-level agreements are met.Conduct database security administration to ensure that data is only available to authorized users.Ensure data consistency by adhering to data model standards and best practices.Maintain schema objects and perform production migrations.Resolve database related technical issues.Analyze and monitor system performance to identify major performance bottlenecks in the system and identify the impact of administration tasks on core business scenarios.Collaborate with development Database Administrators (DBA’s) to coordinate database migration activities and disaster recovery testing and enhance disaster recovery procedures.Participate in the resolution of complex database issues by applying advanced level knowledge.Provide operational support to database administrators.Must-have Skills5+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator, with demonstrated experience working with Oracle 19c and SQL Server 2019 or higherDemonstrated experience working with Azure Cloud SQL PaaS ServicesDemonstrated experience working with Oracle Exadata, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle RACDemonstrated experience with Data Pump tool for database/data migrationDemonstrated experience with Database Recovery Manager (RMAN) with backup/restore and point in time recovery.Experience with monitoring database operations with EMCC (Oracle) and SCOM (Microsoft)Demonstrated experience with Postgres SQLDemonstrated understanding of the concept of Oracle Advanced Security Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)Nice-to-have SkillsDemonstrated experience with MySQL, Azure Cosmos DBDemonstrated knowledge of CommvaultAny relevant designations/certifications (OCP, Azure, etc.)Disclaimer:AI may be used in evaluating candidates.This posting is for an existing vacancy.
