The Opportunity: As a Senior Database Architect (SQL Server & Cloud) with TeamRoehl, you’ll lead the design, development, and implementation of robust, scalable data platform architectures for our clustered Operations and Business Intelligence SQL Server 2022 environments—both on-premises and in the cloud. You’ll architect and optimize active/passive high availability clusters, drive advanced SQL performance tuning and monitoring, and safeguard Roehl’s data assets. You’ll collaborate with business and technology leaders, architects, and developers to deliver OLTP and analytical solutions that power customer and driver success. The ideal candidate will have: Expert-level SQL and T‑SQL skills Extensive experience with SQL Server, including advanced performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting in active/passive high-availability clustered environments (must‑have) Proven ability to architect, design, and implement enterprise-scale data solutions Demonstrated technical leadership—mentoring, setting standards, and driving best practices for database administration and engineering Experience with Microsoft security and identity solutions Experience with Microsoft Replication and CDC strongly preferred Multiple years in a senior technical or architect role, designing DBMS solutions and implementing core architecture for SQL database platforms Deep understanding of relational and dimensional data models, metadata, and data governance practices Understanding of secure data handling practices Preferred and Plus Skills: Exposure to cloud and open source databases, especially PostgreSQL and Microsoft Iceberg technology Cloud experience (Azure preferred) Experience with Azure Monitor, Snowflake, Comvault, Redgate tools, Azure DevOps, and Visio The Company: Roehl Transport was founded by Everett Roehl in 1962 when he began providing motor carrier service with a single truck.
