Senior Database Developer Apply
We have an immediate opportunity with one of our key clients for a position of Senior Database Developer, to work in New York City, NY.
Pay Rate: $40 - $45/hr on C2C
Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain database solutions using PL/SQL and Oracle for equity products in a global financial environment.
- Design and implement database schemas and perform SQL query tuning/optimization to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate equity products and financial instruments into the database architecture.
- Conduct code reviews and work on complex relational database projects, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Work with market/reference data, FIX protocol, and other trading-related data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data systems.
- Provide strategic input in database design and architecture to meet business requirements and improve system performance.
- Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of database systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, ensuring the stability and availability of critical financial systems.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in developing equity products within a global financial services company or vendor using PL/SQL and Oracle.
- Extensive experience working with relational databases, including design, optimization, and maintenance.
- Strong expertise in PL/SQL programming.
- Proficiency in schema design, code review, and SQL query tuning/optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of equity products, instruments, and related protocols like FIX.
- Experience working with market/reference data and handling financial trading data.
- Proficiency with Linux, SQL/NoSQL databases, and messaging technologies.
- Strong understanding of equity market structure, order handling, and electronic trading systems.
- Strategic thinking, with the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve complex database issues.
- Experience with additional database technologies like Redshift, Postgres, or MongoDB is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions like AWS Redshift.
- Exposure to DevOps practices related to database management and automation.
