About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator to support high‑impact database operations in Olympia, Washington. This is a W2 contract opportunity with a hybrid schedule requiring at least 2 days onsite per week at partner facilities. The selected professional will manage, maintain, monitor, tune, and support Db2 for z/OS environments across development, test, and production systems. This role requires senior‑level expertise, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to support mission‑critical database availability, reliability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain Db2 for z/OS database software products to support continuous availability, reliability, and performance of installed applications. Build, manage, monitor, and maintain Db2 for z/OS databases across development, test, and production environments. Perform database monitoring, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and capacity planning. Support high‑availability database environments, incident response, problem resolution, and senior‑level troubleshooting. Manage Db2 for z/OS database security, patching compliance, and change control processes. Implement and test disaster recovery procedures and regular backup/recovery processes. Participate in design reviews for high‑risk, high‑impact statewide systems and services. Provide technical support, consulting, mentorship, and coaching to end users and system support staff. Produce and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, standards, and procedures. Support scheduled after‑hours maintenance and participate in 24/7 on‑call support as needed. Review work products for accuracy and applicability and may perform lead duties within a workgroup. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Software/Computer Engineering, or a closely allied field. Minimum of 8 years of senior‑level experience working with Db2 for z/OS relational database management systems. Strong experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and administering Db2 for z/OS database environments. Experience with database performance tuning, including query tuning, index tuning, and server tuning. Experience supporting high‑availability systems, backup/recovery, disaster recovery testing, and production support. Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure impacts and interconnections. Ability to independently support high‑risk, high‑profile initiatives impacting critical services. Strong incident response, troubleshooting, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, Outlook, Word, OneNote, and PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team‑oriented, collaborative, self‑motivated, and able to work effectively in a high‑pressure environment. Strong leadership skills and ability to provide mentorship to technical teams. Ability to accept personal responsibility for quality and timeliness of work. Salary and Benefits: Salary Range: $93,804 to $123,084 per year, depending on qualifications.
