Senior Design Manager/Document Controller Fleet Data Centers designs, builds and operates mega‑scale data center campuses, providing customers with flexibility and predictability to meet rising demand for cloud and AI infrastructure. The company is led by industry veterans with extensive experience in global digital infrastructure. Position Overview As the Senior Design Manager / Document Controller, you will oversee design coordination, documentation, and compliance of all data center design disciplines for high‑performance, scalable, and sustainable data centers. You will manage design processes, ensure accurate documentation, create new processes, and support cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, efficient systems across multiple regions. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage design team meetings for data center project delivery. Conduct and coordinate design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Monitor design phase milestones to ensure timely delivery of design packages and coordination with project schedules. Set up and manage documentation flow throughout the project lifecycle. Review all documentation issued by the design team. Develop and set standards for engineering document control. Refine design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across all disciplines and all data centers. Maintain document control systems using platforms such as Procore and Aconex. Verify that all documentation adheres to industry standards and is compliant with regulations. Collaborate with construction and operations teams to collect, review, and distribute technical documents. Monitor document submission and approval timelines, providing regular updates to the project team. Prepare and organize documentation for internal and external audits. Manage revisions and updates to documents, ensuring all changes are accurately recorded and communicated. Identify and implement improvements in document control procedures to enhance accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in project management or a related field. 8+ years of experience in document control, with at least 5 years on mission‑critical projects and 3 years in design management. Extensive experience with project management document management software (Procore, Aconex, AutoDesk Docs, SmartSheets, etc.). Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical and non‑technical concepts into clear, actionable strategies. Strong attention to detail to maintain high quality standards. Strong stakeholder management ability, influencing and managing key stakeholders across engineering, construction, product, and operations teams. Analytical skills, with demonstrated success in analyzing program data, defining KPIs, and reporting on success metrics. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Experience working in global data center projects. Familiarity with hyperscaler cloud providers’ data center requirements (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Meta). Experience working on projects in global markets, knowledge of international land, energy, and data center regulations and compliance. Technical understanding of data centers. Key Competencies Integrity and ethical standards, building trust and ensuring fairness. Effective communication with suppliers, negotiation parties, and internal leadership. Emotional intelligence, understanding cultural nuances and motivations. Strategic thinking, balancing big‑picture vision with granular details. Adaptability, managing change and ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment. Leadership, managing cross‑functional teams and external vendors. Experience with complex, multi‑site projects under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and presentation skills for senior leadership interaction. Creative problem‑solving and troubleshooting system performance. Meticulous attention to detail in planning, designing, and reviewing documentation. Working Conditions Occasional travel to data center sites across multiple regions (up to 25% travel), office and active construction site work, adhering to all safety protocols. Salary Information Estimated range: $120,000 – $150,000 + discretionary bonus. Location Denver, CO (also open to candidates in Alexandria, VA; Seattle, WA; Austin, TX; or remote).
