The Role: Senior Director, Data Engineering

The Team: We are seeking an experienced technology expert to lead Data Engineering function within Data Services Organization. Data services team is responsible for Data & Analytics Architecture/Engineering associated with Data Collection & Ingestion, Ratings & Master Data Management, IDF Data Lake, Risk & Regulatory reporting, BI & Data Visualization, AI and Automation.

This role focuses on development of enterprise data domain services, data collection & ingestion systems, data lake platform and BI systems. As a Member Data Services leadership team, you will be working with your peers in Data Services leadership team along with engineering leads across all Ratings values streams to ensure delivery of data and related capabilities in a timely manner with quality and resiliency. You will oversee data engineering teams organized across different ARTs by providing leadership to ART engineering leads and solution architects. To meet this objective, candidates should be influential engineering leaders with deep technology expertise, and a collaborative style that brings others into the decision-making process. You will devise clear roadmaps to deliver next generation data solutions that improve scalability, resiliency, availability of our applications across organizational boundaries. You have exceptional collaboration and communication skills, are highly motivated, creative, and engaged.

Responsibilities and Impact:
Be technically deep and provide input on architecture, design, and code. As a thought leader, you are well respected by engineers and non-engineers alike
Learning and understanding all aspects of your product-line and the Ratings business
Responsible for helping define the vision, driving team execution, and overseeing the engineering process. This will require strong leadership capabilities, as well as the ability to roll-up-your-sleeves to ensure alignment across technology, product, and business stakeholders.
Drive strong partnerships between engineering teams and Product owners, including business stakeholders in the Ratings organization.
Be responsible for driving technical design, architecture and implementation of new features and iterations of core products.
Partner with value stream engineering leaders to define the roadmaps, plan and report on technical programs that cut across the entire organization.
Accelerate alignment to Domain Driven Design by guiding engineering teams to derive in-line transformation of our legacy data platforms
Accelerate adaption of ELT and schema on read architectures to achieve speed to market for internal and external products
Partner with the Ratings Data & Content organization, Core Services, and SRE organizations to ensure best use of standards for the key data use cases
Design and implement strategies to monitor the effectiveness of data management and governance programs and identify, manage and mitigate current and emerging risks
Drive innovation towards building highly scalable real time data engineering pipelines to support deployment of AI/ML and Gen AI solutions

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $167,900-$297,100. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individuals geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits. Basic Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
8+ years of hands-on experience contributing to application architecture & designs, proven software/enterprise integration design patterns and full-stack knowledge including modern distributed front end and back-end technology stacks
5+ years Data Engineering experience leveraging modern Big Data technologies to deploy data lake house architecture in various cloud-based environments leveraging platforms like Databricks, Snowflake etc.
Experience in implementing Business Intelligence, Advance data analytical solutions providing insights to data driven products.
Quality first mindset with a strong background and experience developing products for a global audience at scale.
Excellent analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with strong ability to influence both IT and business partners.
Financial services industry experience

Preferred qualifications
Deep knowledge and commitment to CI/CD and Agile/XP and modern design principles like 12 factor applications
Expert in cloud-based development methodologies and state of the art design patterns.
Experience with building and supporting solutions in the cloud including a strong understanding of cloud native architectures, design patterns and best practices.
Lead the implementation of strategy roadmap for the enterprise data and content; including data architecture, build and data management for enterprise data, maturity of Ratings digital content store and advanced data analytics systems.
Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Solid understanding and experience in the Agile large projects & programs including promotion of continuous improvement through assessment and action planning.
Experience with open source and distributed software development
Up to date and knowledgeable in technology and industry trends with ability to develop and presents substantive technical recommendations to senior management.
