The designed systems will comprise Naked Energy’s Virtu solar heat and power technology, which may be paired with heat pumps, thermal storage, PV and other low carbon technologies to provide low-carbon and carbon-free energy systems for C&I clients.The successful candidate will work within a small team and be responsible for the design of projects from conception to completion, drawing in external engineers from mechanical, structural and other disciplines as required. They will prepare costed designs of renewable heat and power systems, including SLDs & wiring schematics for control systems, key component sizing and selection, electrical load schedules, specifications, CAD design. They will pay close attention to the health and safety aspects of the design and will be able to support more junior members of the team.The senior EC&I design engineer will also produce reports, participate in client meetings, and engage construction partners to develop projects for costing and estimating.Role Responsibilities:Develop electrical designs from initial concept through to construction level of design detailManage the design specification for control panels with our respective supply chainGrow a small team of electrical & controls design engineers as part of the wider design team developmentSupport the development of junior engineersWork alongside other disciplines including architects, mechanical engineers, structural etc.Work to and uphold the highest health and safety standards through CDM regulations, including other local regulations and standards depending on project geographyPresent to clients, delivery partners and other stakeholders, within the UK and internationallyFeedback to product and software teams to propose product improvements that can improve system performance and better fulfil client needsWork closely with Naked Energy’s commercial team to provide technical support and promote deal flowContinuously work to develop and improve internal design processesPerson Specification:5-7 years + experience as an EC&I design engineering-based roleConfident producing designs up to RIBA stage 4 through to constructionKnowledge of standards and regulations for LV (essential) systems and HV (desirable) including 18th Edition wiring regulations & BS 7671Knowledge and understanding of control systems for industrial and HVAC plant/equipment (BMS/PLC/SCADA)Produce cable specifications Inc cable sizingExperience in engineering drawing and design tools (e.g. Auto CAD Amtech)Experience with power generation equipmentExperience in HVAC and/building services/industrial processes, including heat pumps/chillers/boiler plant/CHPsExperience working with clients, architects, other engineering disciplines and construction companiesAble to support throughout project commissioning and testing phases during constructionAble to work in both project delivery and internal R&DDesirable: Experience in solar or other renewablesElectrical engineering degree or equivalent qualification (HND)Be a Chartered Engineer or currently working towards completion with recognised engineering institutionShould you need any support during the recruitment process please let us know.
