Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will serve as the electrical subject-matter expert for designated production areas within a manufacturing plant. This role combines electrical engineering design, industrial automation, capital project management, and continuous improvement leadership to support operational excellence and equipment reliability.

You will lead mid- to large-scale capital equipment projects ($50K–$1M), oversee new machine installations, and ensure electrical systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. This position requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise and cross-functional project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Plant Support

  • Act as the electrical engineering lead for assigned plant areas, providing advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, downtime reduction, and process optimization

  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance, production, and engineering teams on electrical and control system issues

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, plant policies, and regulatory requirements

Capital Projects & Equipment Upgrades

  • Lead full lifecycle capital improvement projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, and commissioning

  • Translate operational requirements into safe, cost-effective electrical engineering solutions

  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, automation integrators, OEMs, and external contractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery

  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), IO checkout, equipment start-ups, and commissioning activities

Electrical Design & Automation Engineering

  • Design and finalize electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system architectures using Autodesk design tools

  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications

  • Define Bills of Materials (BOMs), spare parts strategies, and lifecycle management plans

  • Perform equipment risk assessments and implement safety countermeasures, including lockout/tagout and machine safety systems

  • Design and support PLC programming, HMI development, VFD configuration, servo systems, control networks, and industrial system integration

  • Specify and procure electrical components, instrumentation, and automation hardware

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Strong background in industrial electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment

  • Experience leading capital equipment projects and automation system implementations

  • Technical expertise in PLC programming, HMI systems, VFDs, servo drives, control panels, and industrial communication networks

  • Proficiency in electrical design software (Autodesk or equivalent CAD platforms)

  • Demonstrated experience with system integration, commissioning, and production start-up support

  • Knowledge of industrial electrical codes, safety standards, and risk mitigation practices

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail and quality
