Position: Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Graniteville, SC
Salary: USD $90K - $125k Annually/ Yearly + full benefits
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Shift: 8 hours a day 40 hours a week
Position Summary:
Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for their Graniteville, SC facility. This role involves the design, installation, and continuous improvement of machinery and control systems to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. Strong project management and PLC programming skills are essential, with experience in Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives, servos, and power distribution equipment highly desired. While CAD experience is not required, the role includes ensuring the accuracy of engineering drawings and initiating necessary changes. The position also includes providing maintenance technical support as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical expertise for various areas within the plant.
- Lead continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives and projects.
- Offer technical support to internal teams.
- Manage major projects, including new machine installations and upgrades, ranging from $50K to $5M.
- Analyze project requirements, address design parameters and engineering challenges, and ensure accurate, timely, and budget-conscious implementation.
- Oversee project workflow and collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality and budget standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety objectives and legal requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate existing systems, processes, and technologies, recommending modifications to enhance quality and efficiency.
Engineering Duties:
- Develop and finalize designs to meet project requirements, safety standards, and Bill of Materials.
- Collaborate with automation vendors and manage external contractors for installations.
- Develop engineering drawings using Autodesk products.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety countermeasures.
- Design hardware, program PLCs and HMIs, and handle VFDs, servos, control system networking, and integration.
- Specify and procure electrical hardware and services.
- Conduct machine FAT, IO check-outs, and machine start-up and commissioning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience, including hands-on PLC programming and project management.
- Proficiency in writing, developing, and programming PLCs and control designs.
- Strong understanding of industrial controls and electrical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, resourceful attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-output environment and lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specifying, installing, and operating A/C inverter and servo drives, including Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, and Siemens.
- Familiarity with Ethernet IP communications and power distribution equipment (transformers, electrical feeders, distribution gear) for loads from 120V to 4160V.
- Experience with machine vision sensors and systems, and industrial robots (FANUC, Yaskawa).
- Knowledge of Mitsubishi PLCs, GX-Developer software, LabVIEW software for testing and measurement, and SAP for procurement and project cost tracking.
