Mechanical Responsibilities:

  • Handle electrical control systems and machine automation throughout the facility.
  • Perform mechanical tasks necessary to support electrical duties.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians in completing tasks, which may include both mechanical and non-mechanical work.

 

Key Skills:

  • Use of basic hand and power tools for electrical and mechanical work.
  • Understanding and application of mechanical fasteners.
  • Ability to read and interpret pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams, mechanical drawings, and P&ID schematics.
  • Knowledge of machine inspections, mechanical components, and lubrication systems.

 

Electrical Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in automated production equipment such as PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), industrial networks (DeviceNet, DH+, Ethernet), variable frequency drives (Allen-Bradley, SEW, Toshiba), and control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting PLC ladder diagrams and using PLC software like RSLogix500/5000 to troubleshoot and modify programs.
  • Experience with process control software (RSLinx, RSView ME, RSNetWorx, VFD configuration tools) and handheld programming devices.
  • Strong comprehension of complex equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices according to the NEC and OSHA guidelines.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems using test equipment such as volt/ohm meters, amprobes, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to perform electrical inspections, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades as needed.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Exercise sound judgment in daily job assignments and maintain a high level of professionalism and safety.
  • Safely and effectively operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, saws, hydraulic presses, and other shop equipment.
  • May provide guidance or leadership to colleagues in lower job classifications.

 

Personal Qualifications:

  • Physical capability to stand, walk, crawl, climb, reach, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors and possess normal vision and depth perception, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Comfort working in extreme temperatures, around physical hazards, and exposure to chemicals or fumes (within safety limits).
  • Able to safely work on ladders, scaffolds, and handle heavy objects as needed.
