ICAST (International Center for Appropriate and Sustainable Technology) is a 501c3 nonprofit that delivers green upgrades to multifamily affordable housing (MFAH) properties to fight the affordable housing, climate change, and social equity crises. We motivate people to act, leading to results that foster local economic development, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility. By 2025, we aim to serve 100,000 LMI households annually, reduce their utility costs by $270 Million and Carbon emission by 1.5 million tons, create 2,000 sustainable jobs, and invest over $100 Million in local communities.

Position Overview: 

The Senior Energy Modeler determines energy savings for multifamily retrofit and new construction projects.  They work closely with other ICAST departments including sales representatives to assist in proposing ways to facilitate energy savings to customers, and to determine the resulting energy savings for the project.  

Requirements

Must Have Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 5 years’ of energy modeling and simulation experience  
  • Has successfully completed a large volume of energy models for Multifamily projects.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Possess an advanced understanding of building science and energy conservation measures with focus on mechanical systems i.e., HVAC systems. 
  • Understanding of weatherization and of utility energy efficiency incentive programs  
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with team members who do not possess a technical background 
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

Location: Remote in the U.S.A. 

Travel: Some travel may be required depending on the needs of the company

Reports to: Engineering Manager 

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Areas of Expertise: Energy Modeling, Building Science, Energy Efficiency 

Compensation: $80K/yr. DOE 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Working with partners in the sales department to understand customer needs and to obtain building documentation needed for energy modeling.  
  • Energy modeling   
  • Coordinating consistently with team members on project impacts.  
  • Producing modeling result reports. 
  • Providing guidance & training to Jr. engineering team members as requested by your manager.   
  • Meeting with any assigned reports to review accomplishments and issues.  
  • Provides summaries and reports to management and leadership as requested & required.
