Job Overview:
The Senior Estimating Manager at Gottstein Corporation is responsible for leading the estimating department within the industrial construction sector. This position entails managing all estimation activities, from initial calculations to final bid submissions, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance with financial and operational objectives.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Lead, train, and manage the estimating team to ensure efficiency and accuracy in all cost estimates. Develop departmental strategies to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Estimate Preparation: Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for projects, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and timely. Review and approve estimates before submission.
- Bid Review and Risk Analysis: Analyze all bid documents and proposals for feasibility, risk, and profitability. Make recommendations based on financial analysis and risk assessment.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers and other department heads to ensure that estimates align with technical specifications and project management objectives.
- Client Interaction: Engage with clients to discuss and refine project scopes and budgets. Ensure client needs are met in a financially responsible manner.
- Tools and Technology: Implement and oversee estimating software and systems. Ensure the team is trained on the latest technology in cost estimating.
- Reporting: Provide regular reporting on bid status, backlog, potential risks, and market trends that could impact project costs.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all estimating activities comply with industry standards and regulations. Maintain ethical standards in handling client proposals and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification in project management or cost estimation is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimation with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large-scale project environment.
- Skills: Strong leadership skills, advanced knowledge of estimation software and methodologies, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze financial data and assess market conditions.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include frequent walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds at a time.
- May require travel.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Must be on call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
- Standing up to 90%; sitting up to 10%
Work Environment:
- Estimator Managers work primarily in an office setting. However, they may need to visit construction sites, attend client meetings, and interact with vendors and subcontractors as needed. The role may require occasional travel.
