Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer - Medical AI Platform

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000

Our mission-critical platform provides accurate, cited, and grounded answers at the point of care. Backed by investors including Sequoia Capital and Mayo Clinic, we are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer to build the highly reliable and secure backbone for our medical AI platform.
Joining our Core Engineering team, you will have exceptional technical scope and direct impact, translating business objectives into elegant, scalable technical solutions. This is a hybrid role for a backend expert who thrives in a focused startup environment, owning key infrastructure and driving initiatives across reliability, data, and security, specifically handling sensitive medical data at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Service Ownership: Design, implement, and operate new backend services and APIs, taking full ownership of key backend production services.
- DevOps & Automation: Develop and troubleshoot robust CI/CD pipelines and utilize IaC tooling (e.g., Terraform) to manage and scale infrastructure.
- System Optimization: Maintain and optimize key backend resources, including databases, caches, and load balancers, focusing on performance and site reliability.
- Data Integrity & Security: Contribute to the design of infrastructure and data pipelines that handle sensitive medical data at scale, ensuring compliance and reliability.
- On-Call & Collaboration: Participate in on-call escalation (daylight hours only, about one week per month) and coordinate closely with ML engineers, product designers, and fellow software engineers to execute platform requirements.
Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years of experience as a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer or Platform Backend Engineer at a growth-stage startup (Series D+) or large-scale tech company.
- Backend Expertise: Proven track record of building and scaling production systems and deep expertise in backend design and operation.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with IaC tooling (e.g., Terraform) and DevOps tools such as Docker and Python/JavaScript packaging.
- Cloud Proficiency: Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar major cloud providers.
- Programming: Proficient in backend languages like Python.
- Mindset: Thinks deeply about system design, thrives in rapid iteration, and is energized by building highly innovative and extremely reliable healthcare infrastructure.
