As the first IT hire at our AI-enabled accountancy practice, the Senior IT Specialist will develop and maintain the general IT infrastructure that supports the practice’s operations, including those systems that interface with our custom AI technology. This role is crucial for managing and executing IT projects essential to our operational efficiency and security. The successful candidate will handle daily IT operations and troubleshooting, and will own the development and enhancement of our IT infrastructure. This position is ideal for a dynamic professional ready to tackle both strategic and technical challenges, ensuring our technology effectively supports the practice’s growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct IT Support: Provide proactive support for all IT-related issues within the practice, including troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Data Management Strategy: Oversee data storage solutions to ensure secure, efficient data handling and maintain robust backup systems for disaster recovery.
- Technology Integration: Collaborate with our in-house software development and AI teams to integrate our technology with 3rd-party IT.
- Infrastructure Development and Management: Design and implement the practice’s IT infrastructure, including virtual servers, network configurations, and cloud services, ensuring scalability, high availability, and robust security.
- Cybersecurity and Compliance Oversight: Develop and enforce strict cybersecurity measures to safeguard sensitive data and company assets. Monitor compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.
- Vendor and Consultant Coordination: Evaluate and manage external consultants and vendors, ensuring that their services meet our quality standards and are integrated effectively with our existing systems.
- Future IT Planning: Regularly evaluate the technological needs of the practice, recommending and implementing scalable technology solutions to support sustainable growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 years experience in IT infrastructure development, management, and support, in a mixed Windows, Mac and Linux environment.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices and data protection regulations.
- Experience managing third-party vendors and consultants.
- Exceptional problem-solving and project management skills, capable of leading initiatives and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, able to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Prior experience in the accountancy or financial services sector is preferred, with an understanding of the specific IT needs in highly regulated industries.
