Overview: Senior Java Developer - Algorithmic Trading | Jersey City, NJ (Onsite) Job Title: Senior Java Developer - Algorithmic Trading Location: Jersey City, NJ (Onsite - 5 Days/Week) Duration: 6+ Months Contract (Strong Potential for Full-Time Conversion) Employment Type: W2 Only Rate: $60/hr + Benefits Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Developer with expertise in building high-performance trading platforms and low-latency distributed systems . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, microservices architecture, and capital markets, with hands-on experience developing execution platforms for electronic trading. You will work closely with quantitative teams, product managers, and engineering leaders to design, develop, and optimize mission-critical trading applications that power real-time execution and order management. Responsibilities Design and develop scalable microservices using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud. Build and enhance low-latency trading applications and execution platforms. Collaborate with Quants and Product teams to implement algorithmic trading strategies. Optimize JVM performance, garbage collection, memory management, and concurrency. Develop resilient, highly available, and fault-tolerant distributed systems. Implement pre-trade risk controls, circuit breakers, and safe trading mechanisms. Integrate high-performance messaging technologies such as Kafka, Solace, or Aeron. Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD automation, and production support. Required Qualifications 8+ years of Java development experience. Strong expertise in Core Java (Java 17+ preferred). Extensive experience with: Spring Boot Spring Cloud Microservices Architecture Docker Kubernetes Deep understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and Java Memory Model. Experience with Kafka, Solace, or Aeron. Hands-on experience with Redis, Hazelcast, SQL, and NoSQL databases. Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI. Experience following TDD/BDD practices. Capital Markets Experience Candidates should have experience with: Electronic Trading Platforms Algorithmic Trading Smart Order Routing (SOR) Order Management Systems (OMS) Trade Execution Clearing & Settlement Market Data (L1/L2/L3) Financial regulations including MiFID II and SEC Rule 606 Additional Information Onsite Requirement: 5 days/week in Jersey City, NJ. Interview Process: 1-2 Internal Video Interviews followed by a Final In-Person Client Interview. Contract Length: 6+ Months with high potential for permanent conversion. Start Date: Immediate.
