Position Summary

Open Range is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Landscape Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of innovative landscape solutions for a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and public spaces. Your expertise in landscape architecture, design aesthetics, and sustainable practices will be essential in creating environments that enhance the natural landscape while meeting client desires and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and planning of landscape projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and clients to develop comprehensive landscape designs that integrate seamlessly with architectural elements.
  • Conduct site assessments and analysis to inform design decisions, including factors such as topography, climate, and environmental considerations.
  • Create detailed planting plans, site layouts, and construction documents using design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Research and select appropriate plant materials, hardscape materials, and sustainable practices that align with the design vision and client needs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering their professional development and skills.
  • Conduct presentations and participate in client meetings to convey design concepts and gather feedback.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and sustainability practices relevant to landscape design.
  • Coordinate with contractors and other project stakeholders during the implementation phases to ensure design integrity.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules, tracking progress and making adjustments as necessary.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in landscape design, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) license preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of landscape construction techniques, horticulture, and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to create and interpret detailed drawings, specifications, and planting plans.

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for fostering the growth of junior designers.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and project management skills.
