Pharmacy Practice is a key discipline in our education programme with active involvement within external communities at local and national level and growing practice‑related research programmes. The School of Pharmacy intends to appoint an experienced Academic Pharmacist to complement and enhance its teaching and research effort in Pharmacy Practice. The appointee will be expected to: Facilitate learning and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; Conduct research and postgraduate supervision; Contribute to community engagement and outreach; Manage academic administration; Actively participate in curriculum development and assessment For the post of Senior Lecturer, the following criteria shall apply: An BPharm and PhD in Pharmacy Practice or closely related field OR a MPharm/MSc in Pharmacy Practice and extensive (> 5 years) practice experience; Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as Pharmacist; Demonstrated competence in teaching and learning in Pharmacy Practice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; Experience in a South African practice setting. For the post of Lecturer, the following criteria shall apply: An BPharm and MSc or MPharm in Pharmacy Practice or closely related field; Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as Pharmacist; Teaching experience in Pharmacy Practice or practice experience in a South African practice setting; Record of research or participation in ongoing research. Advantages for the appointment: A track record of research projects and securing research funding; Active collaborations and partnerships with a National academic presence in Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, Experience in the following key areas would be beneficial: Forensic pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacy and medicine management, social pharmacy and public health. Verbal and written communication skills in English for teaching, research, and professional engagement; Ability to engage and train students, and provide academic supervision and mentorship at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; Proficiency to conduct research and contribute to scholarly publications; Planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage academic, research, and administrative responsibilities efficiently; Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
