Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a mission-driven Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support critical federal programs in a diverse, fast-paced work environment located in Linthicum, MD. This role is ideal for a systems professional who values structure, automation, scripting, and reliability. If you’re passionate about building and maintaining resilient infrastructure — and you understand that good systems work is both an art and a discipline — we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and optimize Linux-based environments across physical and virtual platforms

  • Design and implement automation with Ansible and custom scripts to streamline configuration, deployment, and maintenance tasks

  • Write and maintain custom Bash, Python, and shell scripts to support system processes, monitoring, and reporting

  • Ensure systems remain compliant with federal security guidelines and patching schedules

  • Manage system-level networking configurations (routing, DNS, VLANs, firewalls)

  • Monitor system and network performance, respond to incidents, and proactively prevent downtime

  • Document architecture, procedures, configurations, and custom automation solutions

  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to support secure, scalable, and maintainable systems

Qualifications:

  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (must be current and verifiable)

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Linux Systems Administration in enterprise or government environments

  • Certifications:

    • Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2 (or equivalent, such as RHCE)

    • Ansible Automation Certification or demonstrated mastery of Ansible

    • Security+, CASP+, or CISSP (meeting DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher requirements)

  • Advanced proficiency in RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu systems

  • Strong experience with scripting languages including Bash, Python, and shell scripting — with the ability to automate tasks and solve real-world problems through code

  • Familiarity with STIGs, DISA requirements, and secure system configurations

  • Working knowledge of system-level networking (IP tables, static routes, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Why This Role?

  • Contribute directly to essential government programs with real-world impact

  • Emphasis on scripting, automation, and infrastructure-as-code principles

  • Join a team that values precision, documentation, and continuous improvement

Additional Details:

  • Full-Time W2 Employment

  • Location: On-site in Linthicum, MD (no remote/hybrid options)

  • U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract requirements

  • Competitive package and benefits
