Role Description

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Senior Manager, Category Management to lead and enhance our Category Management team. This role will be responsible for developing critical insights across categories and customers to deliver continued business growth, partner closely with account managers to develop best in class retailer presentations and collaborate cross-functionally to support internal business decisions.

Reporting to the Sr Director of Sales Strategy, key responsibilities include:

  • Data Analysis and Insights:
    • Utilize market data, consumer insights, and sales analytics to identify trends and opportunities.
    • Ability to synthesize insights across multiple data platforms.
    • Own existing category data tools and strong understanding of industry tools and resources available for continued department development and growth.
  • Category/Customer Strategy Development:
    • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities.
    • Develop and present actionable insights to drive informed decision-making.
  • Presentations and Sales Enablement:
    • Develop compelling presentations and sales materials to effectively communicate category strategies and product assortments to key retailers.
    • Utilize data-driven insights and market research to tailor presentations for specific customer needs and preferences.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Collaborate with customers & account managers to understand their needs and align category strategies with their business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Innovation teams to align category strategies with overall business objectives.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment on key business objectives.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing Category Management team
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive team success.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management, sales, or related roles within the food manufacturing industry
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing category strategies that drive business growth. In-depth understanding of the food industry, market trends, and consumer behavior
  • Strong experience building and evolving processes and best practices to optimize and deliver against company goals
  • Agile and resilient leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communicator who can tell a clear, succinct story using data
  • Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams
  • A passion for natural food and healthy eating as well as a desire to change the way we think about ingredient labels
