Overview Overall responsibility for the Financial Systems unit that reports to the Controller. These responsibilities include setting the strategy and objectives for this area, planning and budgeting for finance-related projects, as well as monitoring the related control environments and related compliance matters, including the status of various operational key performance indicators. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Responsible for development and management of all direct reports. Responsible for maintaining accounting department staffing models. Manage and direct the project portfolio. This includes maintaining scorecards with specific key performance measures and status. This also includes strategizing, coordinating schedules, activities, communications, and drives the projects for the finance team. Responsibilities for financial systems include representing finance on corporate initiatives to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, properly represented in the financial statements, and adequate financial controls are in place. Responsible for coordination and communication with the IT department and Enterprise Project Management Office. Establish and maintain policy and procedures. This includes managing and monitoring the control environment as it relates to SOX/COSO. This may include facilitating the remediation of any control gaps and escalating issues to senior management. Responsibilities also include coordination of control environment matters with the external auditor team. Establish and maintain budgets and forecasting for the functional areas of responsibility. Prepare various schedules for outside auditors, as needed. Keeps current on available technology, and how technology can enhance our environment. Responsible for building a business case for new technology or enhancements to existing technology. Updated, approve and enforce accounting policies and procedures as it related to implemented projects. Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast. Prepare periodic financial management reports. Qualifications Knowledge and Requirements Extensive knowledge of financial practices and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP); Experience with computerized accounting systems and understanding of available technology for future enhancements; Understanding of statutory and governmental regulations and reporting requirements; Understanding of industry standards and compliance Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; Master's degree in business, accounting or finance preferred; 8+ years of financial accounting, and/or systems; Management experience.
