THE ROLE Lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise storage and data protection platforms supporting both EDA (Electronic Design Automation) and corporate workloads. This role is responsible for defining scalable, high‑performance, and resilient storage solutions across datacenter and cloud environments, while ensuring alignment with business objectives, security, compliance, and cost optimization. The position also oversees operational excellence, innovation (including AI‑scale workloads), and engineering team leadership. THE PERSON Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to mentor and grow high‑performing teams Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes for executive stakeholders Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder management across Engineering, IT, Security, and Compliance Strategic thinker with a balance of innovation and pragmatic execution Problem‑solving orientation with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence Customer‑focused approach with an emphasis on user experience and service reliability KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Own and evolve the storage platform roadmap, balancing EDA performance requirements with enterprise resilience, compliance, and cost goals Define and govern reference architectures across file, block, object storage, and data protection (on‑prem and cloud) Lead storage design reviews for EDA workflows, including metadata‑intensive and high IOPS/low latency workloads (build/test/simulation/regression flows) Establish standard patterns for tiering, archiving, retention, immutability (WORM), and disaster recovery (RPO/RTO, replication, failover) Design solutions supporting AI workloads (including >5TB/s training throughput) Ensure storage segmentation and isolation aligned with performance and security requirements Align all architectures with security, encryption, RBAC, audit logging, and data governance standards Own end‑to‑end storage and backup service delivery (availability, performance, capacity, recoverability, user experience) Lead major incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions Define and track SLAs/SLOs (latency, throughput, backup success, restore times, replication health) Develop and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and operational procedures with continuous improvement loops Drive storage observability, monitoring, and performance optimization Lead automation initiatives using AI tools, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and scripting (Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell) Enable automation across provisioning, quotas, snapshots, replication, and policy enforcement Promote self‑service models, standardized templates, and governance guardrails Integrate storage platforms with enterprise tooling (ServiceNow, CMDB, observability platforms) Foster an engineering culture focused on reliability, automation, documentation, and partnership Own capacity planning, forecasting, and cost optimization (including cloud FinOps alignment) Manage vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, RFPs, and technology evaluations Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization across solutions Oversee lifecycle management including upgrades, refreshes, and decommissioning Manage and mentor engineering teams (onshore/offshore), including hiring, performance management, and succession planning Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for storage across Engineering, IT, InfoSec, Compliance, and Data teams Partner with application owners to optimize performance, data placement, and protection strategies Communicate technical strategy, risks, and outcomes effectively to executive leadership PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Experience in enterprise storage and data protection (file, block, object) Engineering team management experience Proven expertise in high‑performance storage solutions for EDA, HPC, AI/ML workloads Deep knowledge of NAS/SAN architectures, high‑availability design, and storage networking (FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, S3) Strong experience with backup and disaster recovery (snapshots, replication, immutability, air‑gap strategies) Hands‑on experience with enterprise storage platforms (e.g., NetApp ONTAP, Dell PowerScale/Isilon, HPE, IBM, VAST, WEKA, etc.) Experience with open, software‑defined, and vendor‑neutral storage ecosystems Familiarity with data protection platforms (Rubrik, Commvault, etc.) Experience with public cloud storage (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI), including lifecycle policies and replication Strong understanding of observability, performance tuning, and troubleshooting (IOPS, latency, throughput, congestion, multipathing) Experience supporting EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA) or similar IO‑intensive systems Familiarity with Linux environments, NFS tuning, and identity integration (AD/LDAP) Exposure to security and compliance frameworks (SOX, ISO, NIST, data retention, legal hold) Experience in change, incident, and problem management processes ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Master’s degree is an asset This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
