An innovative medical device company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (12 Month - FTC) to support the development of advanced electromechanical systems. This role focuses on delivering robust, manufacturable designs for cutting-edge diagnostic technology within a regulated environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead detailed mechanical design of precision electromechanical components and assembliesEvaluate multiple design concepts and drive decisions based on engineering analysis and trade-offsEnsure designs are optimised for manufacturing (DFM), including machined and injection moulded partsPlan and execute testing and validation activities to verify design assumptionsManage technical risks through structured risk analysis and mitigation strategiesDevelop and transfer tooling, fixtures, and test equipment into manufacturingProduce high-quality engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reportsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partnersRequirementsDegree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)Proven experience delivering mechanical design projects, ideally within medical devices or regulated industriesStrong knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principlesExperience with manufacturing processes such as machining and injection mouldingHands-on involvement in testing, validation, and production supportProficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks or similar)Understanding of quality systems (e.g., ISO 13485 or similar)Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work independently and manage technical projects
