Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Data Center Facilities Location: Valhalla, USA-NY or Los Angeles, USA-CA | Full-time Job Description At Ramboll, your role will involve leading design, planning, and integration of HVAC and mechanical systems for data center projects, incorporating mission‑critical requirements and sustainability targets. You will work directly with clients, develop detailed mechanical drawings, and ensure performance calculations support the project objectives. Responsibilities Able to communicate directly with clients. Plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in mission‑critical environments. Design ducts and piping and develop central plant cooling solutions. Perform typical HVAC engineering calculations to support design work. Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software. Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and contractors. Ensure project timelines are met and that projects stay within budget. Able to travel to project sites as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. EIT/PE licenses preferred. 10+ years of experience in design engineering for mission‑critical facilities. Strong grasp of HVAC systems theory and practical applications. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office. Experience with mechanical engineering software for heat loss/gain, pipe flow, CFD modeling, etc. Ability to communicate effectively with junior staff. Self‑motivated and knowledgeable of project design steps and requirements. Salary U.S. pay range for this position is $106,000 – $133,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
