Job Title Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Attalon is seeking a hands‑on Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design and development of mechanical hardware for high‑precision optical products. You’ll create and validate custom solutions that enable the production of lenses, mirrors, and complex opto‑mechanical systems. Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams, you’ll take designs from concept through assembly and testing. If you enjoy solving complex challenges in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment, this role gives you the chance to make a direct impact on innovative optical solutions. Responsibilities Design, model, and analyze opto‑mechanical assemblies and manufacturing tooling Collaborate with manufacturing teams and internal customers to define requirements and engineering solutions Develop cost‑effective, high‑quality designs that meet performance and schedule goals Create detailed designs and drawings in SolidWorks, including GD&T Apply sound engineering principles supported by calculations and FEA Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods Work with vendors on quoting, sourcing, and hardware procurement Assemble, test, and validate prototypes and final deliverablesSupport special projects and other assigned duties Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Industrial Engineering 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience Strong hands‑on experience with mechanical design, assembly, testing, and qualification Proficient in SolidWorks and core mechanical engineering principles Experience designing, assembling, and validating mechanical systems Preferred Qualifications Experience with FEA tools Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM, Agile, or similar document‑control systems Experience with ITAR, EAR, or CUI‑controlled projects Strong communication skills and attention to detail Comfortable with hands‑on prototype builds and production transfers Customer‑focused with strong accountability Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality systems For California, the base pay range for this role is $91,625.00-$156,600.00.
