SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER | FAIRFAX, VASETTY & Associates is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our Fairfax, VA office. This senior-level position requires a driven and technically skilled engineer who can lead mechanical design efforts from concept through construction, mentor junior staff, and serve as a trusted representative of our firm in client and team settings.We are looking for a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and brings both technical expertise and leadership capability to every project.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage and execute all phases of mechanical design, including conceptual studies, detailed design, engineering calculations, and construction documentationLead HVAC load calculations, system sizing and selection, specification writing, and energy code complianceProvide design oversight, QA/QC review, and mentorship for junior engineers and designersRespond to RFIs, review shop drawings and submittals, conduct site observations, and support construction administration activitiesPrepare and manage punch lists and project closeout documentationInterface with clients, project teams, and contractors as a lead mechanical engineer and trusted advisorContribute to technical standards and innovation initiatives within the mechanical teamQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)10+ years of mechanical/HVAC design experience in the AEC industry (required)Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredProficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required)Strong understanding of HVAC design principles, psychrometrics, and mechanical codesPrior experience in markets such as federal, healthcare, laboratory, or pharmaceutical facilities preferredLEED accreditation is a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProven leadership experience and the ability to manage tasks and staff on multiple concurrent projectsHighly motivated, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a teamWhy Join SETTY & Associates?Competitive salary and performance-based bonusesUncapped PTO (yes, really!)Comprehensive benefits packageOpportunities for professional growth and developmentA collaborative and innovative work environment
