Senior Network Engineer

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Network Engineer encompass the development, upkeep, troubleshooting, and enhancement of functional and secure networks and connections. The goal is to guarantee the elevated availability and security of supported systems and business applications. Key contributions include active involvement in the design, construction, and continual maintenance of the firm's operational networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN). Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer is responsible for configuring and installing software, servers, firewalls, routers, and other network devices to facilitate the secure operation and growth of the firm's networking infrastructure.

The candidate will need to come into their Washington D.C. office 1 day a week.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Collaborate with systems administration, business application, and database administration teams to implement networking solutions that adhere to industry best practices, aligning with firm objectives.
  • Offer advanced technical support for networking in Microsoft Windows Server enterprise environments - providing Tier 3 support for all Windows servers and systems in a 24x7 operational setting.
  • Deploy networking hardware, firewalls, and contribute to the implementation of encryption systems, as well as provide support for all host security systems.
  • Oversee network operating systems and end-user software.
  • Manage the networking components of communication systems (email) and connection solutions, encompassing workstation connectivity, local area networks, the company website, intranet, and Internet applications.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of the network concerning enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer, aligning with business needs and adhering to industry best practices for privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Handle networking aspects of end-user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices for privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct network and security audits.
  • Execute and test routine network system backups and restores.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Professional background in the capacity of a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator within the industry.
  • Practical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems.
  • Profound understanding of local area network administration.
  • Hands-on experience in software and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SD-WAN, Application Centric Architecture, Fibre-Channel / FCOE integration, firewall policy, and high-availability configuration, as well as remote access VPN.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting within complex Active Directory and Active/Azure Federation Service environments, with a rapid ability to pinpoint root cause issues.
  • Previous involvement with Microsoft Identity technologies, encompassing Active Directory, Windows File Services, and Group Policies.
  • Possession of recognized Cisco network certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE preferred).
  • Essential expertise in monitoring best practices, including proficiency in SNMP, Netflow, and API calls.
  • Microsoft certifications, specifically MSCE.
