In this role, the Database Administrator will provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions.Responsibilities Investigate hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actionsArchitects, designs, engineers, and documents database servers and associated infrastructure in clustered, stand-alone, and/or appliance-hosted configurations, which fulfill mission requirements, service specifications, and cyber security mandatesImplements robust backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategiesMonitors, fine-tune, and optimize database performance for minimal downtime and maximum efficiencyEstablishes and enforce stringent database security protocols and access controlsCollaborates closely with application development teams to design and optimize Oracle databasesOffers expertise in writing, tuning, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processesDevelops, executes and oversees data migration initiatives when requiredDevelops and maintains advanced automation scripts for streamlined database provisioning and managementEnhances monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve database issuesSpearheads scalability and high availability efforts for Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, and other cloud-based databases while managing cloud resources and optimizing cost-effectivenessMaintains comprehensive documentation detailing database configurations, procedures, and best practicesRegularly generate performance and usage reports to support informed decision-makingDrives problem resolution and root cause analysis across the technology stackParticipates in the resolution of database availability, capacity, and performance issuesParticipates in infrastructure and organizational initiatives across multiple IT disciplinesSustains fleet of physical and virtual database-hosting servers running a mix of operating systems (Open Systems and Windows Systems) in multiple network environmentsPerforms daily operations, onsite support, and on-call support for all aspects of database architecture, database platforms, and database management softwareWorks with original equipment manufacturers and/or third-party vendors to resolve performance degradations and outagesSupports and participates in projects relating to the move of systems and services to modernized hosting environments and Cloud capabilitiesProvides expert advice on configuring database systems to meet the environment and boundary requirementsCustomizes services to meet new performance goalsInstalls, configures, maintains, and optimizes Oracle database systems to ensure high performance, security, and availabilityDesigns and implements database schemas, monitors database health, and performs routine backups and recovery operations to safeguard mission-critical dataTroubleshoots database-related issues, manages user access and permissions, and optimizes queries to enhance system performanceEnsures compliance with organizational policies and industry standards while staying current on updates, patches, and advancements in Oracle technologiesRequired Qualifications/Education/ExperienceMust have an active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibilityPossesses a B.S. in a related field and 10+ years of database administration experience including experience with Oracle databasesMust be DoD 8140 certified at the IAT-I A+ or CND or Network+ CertificationProficiency in managing a diverse range of databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Azure Data FactoryAbility to translate customer requirements into database structureStrong grasp of advanced database security practicesPossession of excellent oral and written communication skillsExperience building and maintaining Content Management PlatformsFamiliarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Synapse Analytics, Azure Cache for Redis, Azure Table Storage, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQueryMastery of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automationExperience with creating and formulating workflows
