Senior Principal Engineer - EO/IR Systems - BAE Systems

Key Responsibilities Architect, develop, and integrate EO/IR sensor hardware and software to meet stringent warfighter performance requirements. Lead algorithm design for image enhancement, target detection, and signal processing using C++ and Python. Conduct system modeling, simulation, and trade‑off analyses to optimize optical, mechanical, and electronic subsystems. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including optics, mechanical, and software groups—to ensure seamless system integration and verification. Mentor senior engineers and provide technical direction for complex engineering challenges. Requirements 10+ years of experience in electro‑optical or infrared system design and development. Proficiency in C++ and Python for real‑time image processing and algorithm implementation. Strong background in signal processing, optics, and sensor fusion techniques. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage full system life‑cycle from concept to fielding.
