Role Accountabilities:
- Operational Readiness: Provide operational input into control system design and standards to ensure reliability, maintainability, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Design & Review: Review PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, and HMI standards from a usability perspective.
- Commissioning Support: Witness testing (FAT/SAT), validate operability, and support defect resolution during the plant startup phase.
- System Maintenance: Configure and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize control strategies, loop tuning, and alarm performance to drive production throughput and recovery.
- Safety & Compliance: Execute area safety plans, contribute to health standards, and ensure all systems meet statutory and governance requirements.
- Technical Governance: Manage system backups, patching, and cybersecurity while acting as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automation platforms.
- People Leadership: Mentor and coach technicians and junior engineers to foster technical competency and cross-functional collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications and Education:
- Education: University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering.
- Experience: 6+ years of operational experience in process control or automation within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry.
- Technical Knowledge:
Hands-on experience supporting industrial control systems in operating plants.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, control narratives, electrical drawings, and network diagrams.
Expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and industrial networking protocols (Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
- Licensing: Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Education: Master’s degree or advanced certifications in Process Control, Automation, or Cybersecurity.
Specialized Experience: Demonstrated experience specifically supporting Copper/Molybdenum (Cu/Mo) Concentrators and Leaching plants.
Advanced Control Skills: Experience with Advanced Process Control (APC) tools, such as Model Predictive Control (MPC), fuzzy logic, and adaptive control.
Project Experience: Direct experience with commissioning projects and large-scale operational technology (OT) rollouts.
