About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer passionate about hands-on production work, with expertise in the plastics, polymer, or packaging industries. This on-the-floor role involves directly supporting manufacturing operations by troubleshooting machinery, optimizing production processes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of relevant experience, but those with 8+ years and technical leadership skills are highly desirable. This is a dynamic opportunity to drive production efficiency, improve product quality, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to polymer extrusion processes.
• Conduct hands-on work with machines, optimizing their performance to meet quality and cost targets.
• Lead process safety initiatives, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Implement and support continuous process improvements.
• Provide technical support for new product start-ups and equipment installations.
• Collect and analyze production data using scientific and statistical methods.
• Manage capital projects related to equipment upgrades or installations.
• Enforce safety, quality, and environmental compliance (SQF/ISO).
• Mentor junior technical staff and foster a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Must Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, specifically in plastics, polymers, or packaging industries.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing production machinery.
• A commitment to being actively involved in daily production activities.
Nice to Have:
• 8+ years of experience in technical roles within the plastics, polymer, or packaging industries (higher pay for more experience).
• Experience with process safety, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement strategies.
• Leadership experience mentoring junior staff or managing cross-functional teams.
