Primary Responsibilities

  • Take an integral role in new product development, design improvement, and

quality analysis of existing products.

  • Take a key role in accelerating the development of new products

including specification, design, documentation, test, and project

management functions, with flexibility to move between these roles as needed

  • Analyze and improve existing products, designs, and procedures,

including evaluation of materials and suppliers and updating

engineering documentation

  • Use good engineering practices to develop test protocols and standards to

ensure product performance and reliability

  • Define quality control criteria and safety guidelines to maintain the highest level

of product quality and safety while ensuring efficient and reproducible

manufacturability

  • Cooperate with the Quality and Manufacturing teams to ensure the robustness

of manufacturing and the quality of final products within acceptable specifications

  • Work and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a wide variety

of responsibilities related to engineering and quality.

  • Assist in any other projects or tasks pertaining to departmental function.
  • Mentor engineers in the development of their skills.

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

Knowledge/ Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with CAD programs
  • Experience performing Tolerance Analysis
  • Experience with Lean Design or Design for Six Sigma
  • Experience participating in cross functional technical teams in improving designs or developing new product designs.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience

Skills/ Abilities Pertinent to This Position

  • Ability to work in SolidWorks or similar tools
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Ability to author engineering plans and reports.
  • Ability to manage a project

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow differently-abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.

Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or vendors; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating manufacturing equipment. Must be able to lift various weights as needed to meet job requirements.
