Senior Product Development Engineer – Electronics Hardware MEDELA, LLC – McHenry, IL (Hybrid Role; 3 days on-site, within commuting distance) Starting Salary: $120,000 with bonus potential Overview Design the Electronics Behind Life-Changing Medical Devices. Lead design and development of embedded electronic systems for next-generation medical devices, from concept through commercialization. What You'll Do Lead design and development of embedded electronic systems for medical devices. Develop hardware architectures, schematics, and PCB layouts. Drive projects from concept, prototyping, and verification through production release. Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits. Perform circuit analysis, simulations, troubleshooting, and root‑cause investigations. Define and manage hardware requirements aligned with overall system architecture. Support verification and validation testing and incorporate findings into design improvements. Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, risk assessments, and engineering records. Collaborate closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams. Support design transfer to manufacturing, BOM optimization, and design‑for‑manufacturability initiatives. Serve as a technical mentor and subject‑matter expert for hardware development. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field. 5+ years of experience developing embedded electronic hardware products. Strong expertise in analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuit design. Experience designing microcontroller‑based systems. Hands‑on experience with PCB design and schematic capture tools. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Experience taking products from concept through production. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Altium Designer and Altium 365. Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries. Knowledge of IEC 60601, EMC/EMI requirements, FCC, RED, or similar regulatory standards. Familiarity with embedded firmware development in C/C++. Experience with design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM), design‑for‑assembly (DFA), and production industrialization.
