Our Team Eversource is looking for a Senior Program Manager, Strategic Project Development, Transmission located out of the Westwood, MA office. The Senior Program Manager of Strategic Project Development manages a portfolio of Major and Strategic Projects within the Company’s Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) throughout Transmission by implementing cross-functional leadership throughout the Company and executing on the Capital Plan while adhering to core business synergies. Eversource’s ESMP seeks to modernize the electric grid in advancement of Massachusetts' clean energy and climate goals. The role will include development and implementation of comprehensive strategies for advancing early-stage development for a portfolio of transmission lines and substation projects throughout Massachusetts, including internal organization and management across subject matter experts, and support for external stakeholder relationship‑building in collaboration with other teams to support the Company’s role as the leading provider of Transmission. The Senior Program Manager role will be expected to work collaboratively and coordinate with all relevant departments within the Company including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Engagement and Equity, Regulatory, Procurement, Legal, Scheduling, and later‑stage Project Management. This role reports up to the Manager of Strategic Project Development and will also work closely with the Director of Strategic Project Development to ensure alignment and cooperative communication across Strategic Project execution. Essential Functions Responsible for all aspects of a portfolio of strategic Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) transmission line and substation projects from early-stage development to hand off to Project Management Organization (prior to traditional project lifecycle) Oversees a cross‑functional project team including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Legal, Project Management, Engagement, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to establish and organize ongoing development plan Ensures that all strategic solutions are vetted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programs Works with the appropriate departments to develop schedules and budget of ESMP strategic projects in early-stage development and is responsible for the implementation, prior to execution Supports development and documentation of Company Policies related to development and execution of strategic transmission projects addressing items such as feasibility, planning, siting, permitting, construction, etc. Focus on both internal and external collaboration Maintains familiarity with current and upcoming Policies and Programs that could facilitate Transmission Development Works with the Manager/Director to develop metrics by which to evaluate the success of transmission projects and continue to track project-level and ESMP program progress; and collaborates with other Program Managers and Senior Program Managers within Strategic Project Development team when needed Facilitates discussions with key stakeholders to assure alignment and key information exchange to advance Strategic Transmission Projects Assists with representing Eversource Transmission on committees, groups, associations, or other efforts consistent with Strategic Projects Assists with representing Eversource Transmission at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings and any special meetings that may occur Ensures Manager and Director of Strategic Project Development are briefed regularly on the status of job responsibilities for the development of strategic projects and status of action items Technical Knowledge/Skills Project management experience required Understanding in onshore development of electric infrastructure projects, such as solar or wind Ability to develop and present reports within the organization Strong computer and analytical skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple subject matters, such as permitting, engineering, real estate, interconnection, finance, community engagement Ability to take in multidisciplinary pieces of early-stage project development and make decisions in a timely manner Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externally Demonstrated interest in ongoing learning and process improvement Interest in progressing the State’s electrification efforts in advancement of Massachusetts’ clean energy and climate goals Education Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (i.e., engineering, environmental, renewable energy), business discipline, related degree, or equivalent experience Masters, law, or other related advanced degree desirable Experience Ten (10) years of related experience, including successful project development Experience developing competitive infrastructure projects and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems preferred Licenses & Certifications Valid Driver’s license is required Working Conditions Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
