Job Summary:

This position provides general management for all project design and construction activities. It develops programs and schematic designs; manages architectural/engineering consultants; manages construction activities by coordinating users, consultants, and contractors, manages schedule, budget, construction and acquisition of materials; provides project cost estimates; ensures timely project execution. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description:

Design

  • Manages and assist design professionals with development of schematic designs to meet the needs defined in programs, manages the work of professional consultants, coordinates the preparation of drawings, specifications, and Group II lists for new construction, and renovation projects. 
  • Manages the design process for compliance with the program, Facility Standards, and intent of the Project.

Schedule

  • Prepares project schedules, which meet the needed time requirements established for the Project.  Manages the schedule accordingly.

Project Activities

  • Coordinates project activities with appropriate hospital staff, professional consultants, general contractors, building/regulatory inspectors, and material suppliers to ensure the best possible facility both during construction and at completion of the Project.

Project Closeout

  • Coordinates project close-out to finalize all reporting and organize final project documentation in accurate and concise format for inclusion in Facility Master Records.

Budget

  • Prepares Project Budgets to accurately project the cost of the building program or renovation including all professional fees, construction, equipment and other related soft costs such as printing, moving, etc. 
  • Manages project budgets to ensure best value within approved budgets.

Buyout

  • Prepares professional service and construction contracts which clearly define the scope of service and price. 
  • Prepares purchase requisitions for project materials, Group II, and other items needed to meet the intent, schedule and budget of Projects.

Documentation

  • Manages project documentation for accuracy and completeness.  Manages change orders and pay requests for timeliness, accuracy, budget and contract compliance.

Quality/Customer Service

  • Work with both internal and external customers to provide quality project management and consulting services through a spirit of teamwork and open communication to achieve common goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Computer in CAD Software, Word Processing, Excel and Project Management / Scheduling Software
  • Building codes and Life Safety Code.
  • Knowledgeable of institutional Mechanical / Electrical Systems

Kind and Length of Experience: 

  • Five years-experience in the management of design and/or construction of healthcare facilities.
