A Senior Project Manager, ERP Platforms is needed for a Contract position in Pasadena, CA
Hours:
This is a contract position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor, with a minimum thirty-minute and maximum one-hour break for lunch, and two rest breaks. Occasional out-of-hours work may be necessary to support critical project milestones (go-live, cut-overs).
General Job Description:
Senior Project Manager, ERP Platforms is responsible for the successful orchestration of internal IT, Accounting, Finance, Purchasing and external vendor resources to migrate an existing field service group (FSG) currently using legacy Great Plains ("GP") ERP platform to JD Edwards platform ("JDE"). The Senior Project Manager will have a senior (7+ years) level of experience in ERP conversion projects involving integration for Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, Reporting with experience leading at least 4 ERP migration projects in mid-size companies. This position reports into the Senior Operations Manager, Business Operations and Technology.
Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities):
- Bachelors in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance.
- PMP/Prince certification.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP) and Oracle JD Edwards (JDE).
- Demonstrates strong team leadership, written/verbal communication skills, and fast uptake of enterprise systems processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of service management in ERP systems is a big plus.
- Experienced building presentations in PowerPoint for key communications; Smartsheet for Project Management.
- Exposure and running understanding of Change Management (aka Organizational Change Management). PROSCI certification is a plus, but not required.
- Uses discretion and maintains confidential information.
- Operates in a startup fashion for ERP technologies that support the construction industry.
- Quickly adapts to new business teams, new technologies and processes.
- Communicates difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Solves complex problems using critical thinking, at times independently and often to seek out help from team members to collaborate on innovative solutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multiple teams on overlapping projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with project sponsors, business process owners, business analysts, technical SMEs within IT, Finance, Accounting, Purchasing and Business Systems Group to organize, refine and document project scope, tasks, resource requirements, vendors services and internal IT work deliverables, including Change Management.
- Oversee and drive ongoing refinement, updates and execution of a comprehensive project plan for the ERP migration from GP to JDE, partnering with external vendor partners.
- Oversee and drive ongoing refinement, updates and execution of rebuild of integrations between the IFS platform and JDE, working with business analysts, data integration leads and vendor experts.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of purchasing automation within the new ERP system.
- Proactively communicate with internal Business Operations and Technology teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, manage risks and issues and provide transparency to stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Partner with internal company stakeholders on Change Management considerations to ensure a successful uptake of new JDE processes in A/P, A/R, Purchasing, Reporting and wider FSG organization. Change Planning to include retirement approach for the legacy GP system.
- Collaborate with colleagues using multiple back-office tool sets (Box, Smartsheet, Gmail, GCalendar, Co Pilot, Jira).
- Ensure Quality via Test Plans: Ensure comprehensive test plans are built and executed by vendor, business analysts, SQA resources. Oversee completion of Day in the Life (DITL) aka User Acceptance Test in non-production environments. Ensure technical SQA testing is documented and executed successfully prior to UAT/DITL.
- Maintain and uphold project management best practices: Scope Management, Risk & Issue & Decision Management, Schedule, Status, Dependency Management.
- Ensure all technical design and configuration written documentation and diagrams to ongoing supportability is delivered as part of the project.
- Define Ongoing Support Plan, including identifying resources.
- Conduct project health assessments, lessons learned as directed by PMO.
